Dr. Ruth E. Pearce
Dr Pearce qualified at St. Mary’s Hospital in London in 1986 (MB BS) and gained her GMC registration in 1987. She obtained the Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRCOG) in 1991 and her Advanced Family Planning Certificate in 1992. Joining Danby Surgery in 1995, Dr Pearce gained her Diploma in Therapeutics in 2000, becoming a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) in 2004. Dr Pearce is now accredited as a GP Trainer and supervises our GP registrars as well as acting as Course Organiser within the Scarborough GP Training scheme on Wednesdays.
Dr. Marcus van Dam
Dr Van Dam first trained and worked as a Paramedic before studying Medicine at the University of Aachen (RWTH), Germany. Here he carried out and published research in Molecular Biology (MD) before completing the practical part of his medical training in Berlin (Free University). Dr Van Dam qualified as a doctor in 1997. He gained his UK GMC registration in 1998, the Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRCOG) in 2000, and completed his GP Training in Scarborough in 2002. After that he worked as a Locum GP in practices in the Whitby and Scarborough area until he joined Danby Surgery in April 2004. He gained the Diploma in Practical Dermatology in 2007, and has recently started to involve himself in GP Commissioning within the Hambleton, Richmondshire and Whitby Consortium. Dr van Dam also speaks German and Dutch
